Dirty snowman representing the one in To Kill A Mockingbird.
|
In To Kill A Mockingbird, Jem makes a snowman out of mud. He did this because it rarely snows in Maycomb, so there was not enough snow to make a full snowman. It represents white supremacy. Scout and Jem originally made the snowman out of mud, and then gradually covered it with snow. It is subtle symbolism, but it means that some people of Maycomb hope to make the town only include white residents. It is showing that over time, the black people will go away, which is also hinting at Tom Robinson's death.
